The Stone stele record on pavilion of Văn lake was erected in the year 1865 during the Nguyễn Dynasty. It was placed on Kim Châu island at Văn lake. According to Feng Shui beliefs, Văn lake is considered the "tiểu minh đường" (a small bright sanctuary) of Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử, and it is an integral part of the entire architectural complex.

The stele has a curved shape, with a decorated top featuring two dragons flanking the sun, and its edges adorned with wave-like patterns. The body of the stele is inscribed with Chinese characters, recording the construction of a pavilion on Kim Châu island at Văn Lake, referred to as pavilion of Văn lake. This pavilion was built as a place for literary activities, where scholars and writers often came to enjoy the moonlight and compose poems.

Today, the "Stone stele record on pavilion of Văn lake" remains one of the preserved artifacts, documenting an important milestone in the formation and development of the special national heritage site, Văn Miếu - Quốc Tử Giám.
