A pair of stone dragons made in the artistic style of the Lê Dynasty sit outside the Văn Miếu Gate. The dragons are sculpted in the form of “clouds turning into dragons" with many swirls, wide open mouths, raised heads, and their fins shaped like sabers. They are adorned with patterns of floral motifs, with water and waves underneath. Under the skillful hands of stone carving artisans, the stone dragon pair is intricately decorated, displaying an imposing yet gentle and graceful appearance.

At the Special National Landmark, Văn Miếu - Quốc Tử Giám, the pair of stone dragons outside the Văn Miếu Gate are some of the precious artifacts that provide fine-arts researchers with additional materials to study the art of stone carving during the Lê Dynasty.
