Erection time: on 15th of 8th Lunar month of 15th Hồng Đức reign title (1484)

Size of stele: 141cm in height, 109cm in width, 18cm in thickness.

Shape: Flat, stone gray color

The pediment of the stele is adorned with sacred clouds and gems, with rays of light. The stele edge symmetrically decorated with flowering vines. This stele belongs to the early Lê dynasty period, so it features delicate calligraphy and intricate patterns. The tortoise carrying the stele has a graceful posture, with large bulging eyes, a wide mouth revealing fangs, and a raised head displaying a solemn expression.

Stele of Doctoral laureates of Tân Sửu royal exam in the reign title Hồng Đức XII (1481) was erected on 15th of 8th Lunar month of 15th Hồng Đức reign title (1484) under the Emperor Lê Thánh Tông.

This exam attracted 2000 participants who had passed inter-provincial exams. Of them only 40 became laureates. the King browsed the essays and and rated them according to different classes and grades. Thus, Phạm Đôn Lễ became Trạng nguyên (1st-grade laureate). Lưu Hưng Hiếu became Bảng nhãn (2nd-grade laureate). Nguyễn Doãn Địch became Thám hoa (3rd-grade laureate). 2nd class doctoral laureates: eight persons. 3rd class doctoral laureates, twenty nine persons.
