Erection time: on 2nd of 3rd Lunar month of 1717

Size: 178cm in height, 122cm in width, 23cm in thickness

Shape: flat, stone gray color

Indentification: the stone diving into 3 parts: the top of stele, the body of stele and the pedestal in shape of tortoise. The arched pediment is decorated with two dragons facing the sun. The edging is decorated with string flowers. The rectangular body of the stele is engraved with clear characters. The pediment is decorated with clouds, the moon and the sun. The edge around is decorated with flowers. The tortoise 's head is high; its neck is short; its eyes are small, its mouth has no fangs. Its back has a small moulding; each of its legs has 5 claws.

Stele records of Doctoral laureates of Quý Hợi royal exam in reign title Chính Hòa IV (1683) was erected on 2nd of 3rd Lunar month of 1717 among 18 stone stelae recording the names of doctors ranked the first class (Trạng nguyên). According to Emperor’s rating, Nguyễn Đăng Đạo was awarded the acedemic title namely the best candidate (Trạng nguyên) in this exam.

The text in Chinese was composed by academician Nguyễn Kiều (1695-1752). Along with that, the advice for the scholar is also clearly stated: "Those who are being respected by the court today should remember being chosen by the ancestors so that they will be careful with their future actions. They should also try to make progress every day so that they don't feel ashamed of the wrong things they do. On the contrary, if they only think for themselves but don't care about the country, like to be flattered, and avoid losing heart, they will inevitably be shamed by public opinion in the future." Names and academic titles of docors engraving on the stone carefully: 3 candidates became 1st-class Tiến sĩ, 1 candidate becam 2nd –class Tiến sĩ, and 14 candidates became 3rd –class Tiến sĩ.
