Stele records of Doctoral laureates of Giáp Thìn royal exam under the reign title of Cảnh Trị II (1664) was erected on 2nd of 3rd Lunar month of 1717 located in Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám. The Ministry of Public Works was assigned to erect stone to record names and homelands of doctor laureates passing examinations to preserve for future generations.

In the year of Giáp Thìn under the reign title of Cảnh Trị II (1664), a National examination was held for Confucian scholars by the Emperor Huyền Tông Mục, which was overseen by the Chief Examine, the Second Examiner and the Superivsors. In the 6th Lunar month, the winners were invited to the Court for the 2nd round, which required an essay on statecraft, judged by the Emperor. 13 participants were proclaimed the winners: 1 candidate became 2nd –class Tiến sĩ, and 12 candidates became 3rd –class Tiến sĩ.
