Stele records of Doctoral laureates of Kỷ Hợi royal exam under the reign title of Vĩnh Thọ II (1659) was erected on 2nd of 3rd Lunar month of 1717 located in Văn Miếu – Quốc Tử Giám. The Ministry of Public Works was assigned to erect the stone by King Lê Dụ Tông to record names and homelands of doctor laureates passing examinations in order to honor talents and encourage studying.

In the Spring of the 2nd Lunar month of Kỷ Hợi year (1659), the Emperor held a Royal examination for the excellent students throughout a country. According the Emperor’s rating, 3 candidates became 1st-class Tiến sĩ, 2 candidates becam 2nd –class Tiến sĩ, and 15 candidates became 3rd –class Tiến sĩ.
