The pediment of the stele is decorated with a sun and rays of light. The edge of stele is engraved with peony flowers.

The examination drew more than 3,000 participants, out of whom seven were rated as winners. On an auspicious day of the 4th lunar month, His Majesty sat in the Kính Thiên Palace and set the topic for the second round of the examination. Having read the remaining six examination papers, His Majesty decided to award the title of 3rd-class to the six candidates, with Phùng Thế Trung ranked at the top of the list.
